How to Develop Empathic Skills

People often feel as though they are particularly sensitive to other’s needs, emotions and pain but it can be difficult to differentiate between good intuition and being an empath if one doesn’t know what to look for. For this reason, a person must first identify what it means to be an empath and then learn how to harness their empath skills. In truth, not everyone is an empath. It’s a gift that someone is born with and whether they choose to ever learn to use it to its fullest potential is up to them. If you do feel as though you are a natural born empath, there are ways to learn how to develop your skill.

The most important thing to know when trying to harness your empath skill is to pay attention to what is happening around you. Everyday events that may seem very small can be indications that you are an empath so it’s important to keep track of them by using a journal or a diary. Track down what is happening and whether or not there has been any personal growth on your end while these things are happening. If you see personal growth developing the more you experience and recognize, you probably are an empath.

One of the things to record is coincidences that you notice. There is actually no such thing as a coincidence according to empaths and everything happens for a reason. Write down the coincidences that you experience and see if they are adding to your spiritual growth. Act on your hunches and record in your journal what happened and if your hunch turned out to be correct.

Everyone has an inner voice that guides them along the way, telling them what’s right for them and what’s not. The difference with this inner voice in empaths is that it will also tell them what is right and what’s not for other people. Whenever you hear this inner voice, it’s important to record not only that you heard it but as well, the result of what happened after hearing it. This not only will let you know when you can expect the inner voice to become louder but also how to act on it.

Practice predicting things. Even if it’s a simple matter such as what your husband or wife will cook for dinner the next day or what someone will be wearing the next time you see them. Empaths can make predictions not because they are psychic, although many empaths are, but because they can feel what others are feeling, including what they feel like making for dinner or what they want to wear that day. Record these predictions along with whether or not they came true.

A large part of learning to develop empathic skill is simply becoming aware and focusing on what is around you. These are two fundamentals of empaths because if those skills are not mastered, the empath could have other’s emotions actually overtake them and the empath would never be able to block them out, as empaths must sometimes do.
